The rule they were rewriting
Canada’s national identity is grounded in being thoughtful, stable, and measured. These traits have value, though they come with a tradeoff. In our culture, risk-taking is often discouraged, failure is avoided, and ambition is softened before it’s fully explored. For a country with the talent and resources to be a global leader, that creates a ceiling.
SHIFT Canada was built to challenge this ceiling but their role wasn’t fully landing. They were seen only as a youth education program offering workshops. The deeper ambition to influence how a country thinks and behaves needed clarity.
The team partnered with 5&Vine to intentionally build a culture where the people and institutions are bold enough to challenge how things are done and reimagine what’s possible.
The rule we rewrote together
We helped SHIFT step into its role as a cultural catalyst and become a force reshaping how Canadians relate to risk, ambition, and possibility. We moved the narrative from programming to cultural change, clarifying SHIFT’s role in shaping mindset at scale, across classrooms. Together, we:

Through the Bold Ambition Index, we helped SHIFT quantify attitudes toward risk and entrepreneurship, turning an abstract idea into something trackable, credible, and actionable.
Activated a national narrative:
We helped shape and launch the Bold Is Canadian campaign; we reframed boldness as part of Canadian identity, not in opposition to it.
Built a platform to carry the work forward:
From messaging to website, we created a cohesive brand and digital experience that reflects SHIFT’s evolving role and supports ongoing growth and partnership.
The impact
SHIFT Canada now shows up with clarity that matches the scale of its ambition. The organization is perceived as a driver of cultural change that shapes how Canadians think about risk, failure, and opportunity.
